The Manila Dunes

After leaving some of the
band members back on the plaza,
remnants of the still mighty and dedicated
Royal Kinetic Madness Band
devour Oysters, brews and more sunscreen.

Good Times.

12:58 PM - Chris’ overloaded Xterra lumbers into the Manila comuunity center parking lot trailing behind several sculptures and their human powered entourages.

Somehow we are the last group of band members to show up.

Apparently, following the sculptures at race-pace isn’t the fastest way through the bottoms.

12:59 - Everyone decides that they are hungry.

1:01 The seemingly futile quest for barbecued oysters and burgers begins.

1:42 - Well meaning, but overwhelmed Arcata High students deliver the goods. Lunch is served.

2:01 The band trickles away from the safety of the park and head for the sand

2:09 - Once Again, a great semi-circle of color and sound forms high atop the Manila Dunes at the crest of the narrow trail.

And again, Confused spectators crowd around. Odd creatures, sculpture racers and more hippies groove to the Royal Kinetic Madness funk.

The band plays on.

2:21 The Ladies of Pardi Gras pass by

2:33 Duane Flatmo and the Extreme makeover pause for a musical interlude...

2:50 Julia reprimands the group for not drinking enough water

3:05 The band packs it in for the day to prepare for the continued madness of day two.
